Uffington Church of England Primary School

Preparing for the future; living life in all its fullness

A busy week...

We have reached the end of another busy week at Uffington School

On Wednesday, the children in Miss Johnston's class had a wonderful day at Burghley generously funded by Stamford Young Persons' Charity. The children enjoyed an art workshop in which they made clay plaques, and then explored the Sculpture Garden in the glorious September sunshine. The day ended with time in the Garden of Surprises which was thoroughly enjoyed by all. We were delighted to receive a compliment from a member of the public who commented on how well-behaved our children were - they are a credit to us all!

Meanwhile, children in Mrs Swanson's class enjoyed a Knex Challenge led by Mr Philip Warren of Rutland Education and Business Partnership. The children's brief was based upon the commemoration of the D-Day landings: they were asked to design and build a landing craft incorporating a ramp with locking mechanism. The overall winners were Heber and William - well done!

This week has also seen the start of Hockey and Sewing Clubs with the new School Council meeting for the first time as well. Term really is well-underway!
