Marking Remembrance at Uffington School
Y56 lead Act of Remembrance
We were so proud of Years 5 and 6 as they led our Act of Remembrance in church yesterday. The children read beautifully, sharing their understanding of the meaning of Remembrance. A performance of John McCrae's poem 'In Flanders Fields' was particularly powerful, and we were greatly moved by the laying of class wreaths on the war memorial as we marked the two-minute silence. A huge thank you to Mr Twinley who played The Last Post and Reveille.
The School Council have greatly enjoyed selling poppies and other merchandise and, judging by the weight of the collection box, have had a very successful campaign to raise funds for the British Legion.
