Special Educational Needs and Disabilities
At Uffington School we follow the Department for Education’s Code of Practice for Special Educational Needs (available in school). If a child is experiencing difficulties, the class teacher will consult the Special Educational Needs Co-ordinator who will then arrange for appropriate assessments to be made. Depending upon the nature of a child’s difficulties, it may be necessary to involve outside agencies, e.g. an educational psychologist, in the assessment of the child’s needs.
At all stages, parents are involved in the process; they will be offered the opportunity to discuss the situation with the class teacher, Headteacher or Special Educational Needs Co-ordinator and be invited to attend progress reviews.
The Special Educational Needs Co-ordinator (SENCO) for Uffington School is Miss Shanie Waters. Miss Waters can be contacted via the school office: 01780 756236 or enquiries@uffingtonprimary.co.uk
