Back to School!
The first week of Term 2 has been another busy one with a number of new clubs starting: Mr Roberts launched Lego Engineers on Tuesday and Mrs Simms started this year's Singing for Fun sessions on Wednesday. Netball coaching continues this term along with Sewing Club and two additional sporting activities: Sports Cadets for KS1 and Multi-Skills for Years 3 and 4. Mrs Smith continues to come into school on Friday mornings to teach woodwind; we are delighted to have been given two new music stands by the parents and children of last year's Year 6 - thank you all very much!
The School Council will be selling poppies and other merchandise in the playground before and after school next week - please support this worthy cause.
The PTA are busy planning a number of events in the lead up to Christmas, including Children in Need, a Christmas Disco, a fundraising auction and the annual Christmas Fayre which will take place between 6 and 8pm on Friday 9th December. The PTA will also be providing refreshments after the Nativity and Carols around the Tree. Their fundraising efforts over recent months have provided new books, welly stands, an easel for the Reception class and lots of lovely Lego for Lego Engineers. They will also be subsidising the visit to the pantomime and have committed to funding the development of the outdoor learning area and activities to support mental health and well-being. The PTA meet once a month at The Bertie Arms; we're a friendly group and everyone is welcome at our informal meetings - please do get involved to support their valuable work!
Finally, I was delighted to be told today that the bus driver taking our children to the swimming pool mentioned to Mrs Sawers what a pleasure it is to drive our children because they are always so polite and well-behaved. The children are a real credit to the school and to their parents and carers!
