Uffington Church of England Primary School

Preparing for the future; living life in all its fullness

The School Day

For all pupils, school begins at 0845. Children in the Foundation Stage and Key Stage 1 (Years 1 and 2) finish school at 1515 with KS2 (Years 3 - 6) finishing at 1525.

For reasons of safety, we ask that no child be left unaccompanied in the school playground before 0840.

At the end of the day, children should be collected promptly unless they are taking part in an after-school activity.

Lunch time is between 1200 and 1300 for the Foundation Stage and KS1. KS2 children have lunch between 1215 and 1315.

The children have a fifteen minute break in the morning and a short break in the afternoon.

The academy day is 6.5 hours long (including breaks and lunch, totalling 32.5 hours a week.

There are three stages within the primary age range:

Foundation Stage Reception (4 - 5 year olds)
Key Stage 1 Years 1 and 2 (5 – 7 year olds)
Key Stage 2 Years 3 to 6 (7 – 11 year olds)

Our children are organised into four classes as follows: Reception; Year 1 / 2; Year 3 / 4; and Year 5 / 6.

In Key Stage 2 some subjects are taught by different members of staff according to curriculum expertise.

All children are together for collective worship, hymn practices and other times as appropriate.

The pupil: teacher ratio at the present time is 25:1.
